DAHW Brasil launches Basic Leprosy Course

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, DAHW Brasil, a German NGO that has been operating in the country for more than 60 years, launches the Basic Course in Leprosy. The course is a free online initiative designed for mid-level Health Professionals (Community Health Agents, Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants) and people affected by leprosy and their families.

Using simple language, and recounting current and interactive resources, the “Basic Course in Leprosy” fills an important gap in capacity building for this public in Brazil.

In these decades of operations in Brazil, DAHW has always valued and recognized the important role that these Community Health Workers played in the fight against leprosy. Now they will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge free of charge and interactively, discuss with their colleagues the topics of the course, share on their social networks, etc.

The Course is divided into five independent and interactive modules, with short videos and clear information, which make learning pleasurable and easy.

The students will also have material to support the course, which deepens some information mentioned in the videos, without being directly linked to them, following recent methodologies of Health Education.

Leprosy is a serious public health problem in Brazil and needs to be tackled in an innovative and courageous way! DAHW Brasil believes that it is possible to disseminate knowledge about the disease in a different light and at the same time connected with the 21st century.
