Leadership Team Meeting, October 2024

The Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy (GPZL) convened a three-day Leadership Team meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal, from October 25–27, 2024. The primary objectives of the meeting were to review GPZL’s accomplishments in 2024 and to discuss ideas for the 2025 business plan.

The event featured dynamic plenary sessions, collaborative group activities, and insightful presentations, highlighting GPZL’s unwavering commitment to achieving Zero Disease, Zero Disability, and Zero Discrimination or Stigma. A significant focus was placed on the critical goal of zero transmission, which is essential to halting the spread of leprosy and preventing new cases.

Attendees included Leadership Team members representing organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), Sasakawa Health Foundation, Novartis, International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations (ILEP), Leprosy Research Initiative (LRI), International Leprosy Association (ILA), and Netherlands Leprosy Relief (NLR). Contributions also came from National Leprosy Program Managers, members of the scientific community, GPZL affiliates, and individuals affected by leprosy, whose valuable perspectives enriched the discussions and strategic planning process.
