A Contact Intervention using Participatory Video and Comics to Facilitate Contact between Affected Persons and Community Members

Contact interventions can improve attitudes and change negative stereotypes. The SARI Project set up a series of contact events organized during existing meetings in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. The contact events included testimonies, videos, and comics created by persons affected by leprosy. The creation of these community-based materials involved persons affected and produced a measurable reduction in leprosy-related stigma in Cirebon.
