Media Campaigns for Leprosy Awareness

Leprosy awareness media campaigns should reduce stigma and encourage the public to seek early detection and treatment rather than incite fear. Brazil’s Ministry of Health replaced past problematic campaigns with positive messaging by working with NGOs like Movement for the Reintegration of People Affected by Leprosy (MORHAN). The resulting posters, booklets, and videos focused on noticing symptoms, early detection, and normalization of people taking multi-drug therapy (MDT).
