No Disability

Effective prevention and treatment of disability during and after antimicrobial treatment can help to reduce suffering, physically and mentally. This theme focuses on practices used in primary prevention (e.g., early detection and treatment of nerve function impairment), secondary prevention (e.g., prevention of advancement of disabilities and criteria and practices for surgical procedures) and tertiary prevention (e.g., rehabilitation and surgery of existing disabilities). It also includes promising practices of integrated rehabilitation services and of inclusion for persons with leprosy-related psychosocial disorders. Disability is often the cause of fear and stigma.
